A well-proportioned double-ended sailboat
has a special appeal, a natural grace and beauty. At anchor in a peaceful spot, she symbolizes the old-fashioned romantic
aspect of cruising — the stuff that cruising dreams are made of.

Construction on the Mallard May is on hold for the next few months. We are curently abroad doing reserch on various methods
of wooden boat construction. In the Maldives a traditionial wooden transport, working, fishing boat called a "dohni" is widly
used. The dohni like
Mallard is a strip built boat frequently built as a double ender. Dohnis are used daily and rarely removed from the water.
Fiber glass is not used on the hulls at all, a fact that has made me reconsider its use for Mallard. Traditional sealing and
paint seem to be an easy effective way to water proof a wooden hull without making it impossible for water to get
out of the wood. This is my way of thinking for the moment... i do as usual reserve the right to change my mind..then change
it back again!!
